Dire Wood
After lying dormant for five years, Lafayette’s favorite alt-country/rock group, Dire Wood, returns the stage in full force this April. In 2004, after living in Athens, GA for three years, J Burton (FIGHTs) moved back home to Lafayette, LA . He re-united with long-time friend, and musical cohort Chad Viator (Roddie Romero, Arbor Vitae) and the two began writing songs and playing as a duo. After enlisting Frank Kincel (Modern Jazz Movement, The Specklers) on drums, and Ryan DeJean (formerly Rareluth) on bass the band released it’s first full length Stand At the Edge and Listen in 2006. The second record, The Escape (2008), was released nationally and enjoyed a good deal of airtime on college radio and independant stations. The Escape was the first to feature the fifth member of the band , Tiffany Lamson (Givers). The third album was recorded in January 2009, but was never released. That album, Little band in a Big House, has recently been re-mixed and re-mastered and will be available for purchase at the show.
