Bas Clas & The Gasoline Lollipops

10:00 PM - 2:00 AM Friday November 22, 2019
Bas Clas is a rock and roll band originally from Lafayette, Louisiana. The name is derived from a Cajun insult/expression meaning “low class.” The band formed in 1976 as a full time entity and worked the club circuit until May 1991. During this 15 year run the band’s repertoire of original songs and its reputation as a powerful live act with marathon 3 hour sets established Bas Clas as an influential group in South Louisiana. Though the band’s self-released recordings were then-limited to three 45rpm singles, Bas Clas attracted the attention of producers like John Hammond and Tom Werman, and press who recognized the band’s songs and performances as rooted in the complex cultural essence of Louisiana, the passion of rock and roll, and the desire to change the world for the better.
After a decade break, in 2002 the band reunited for a benefit and the journey began again. In 2012 Bas Clas released its first new music in thirty years, a CD recorded at the renown Dockside Studio by multiple Grammy winning engineer David Farrell. “Big Oak Tree” received critical acclaim, including a nomination for Best Rock Album in the Offbeat Magazine Best of the Beat Awards. On January 26, 2013, Bas Clas was inducted into the Acadiana Chapter of the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. The band released “Love Food Sex Peace” in 2014 and in 2016 “In Wonderland” was added to the growing discography. Work well underway on their next release.
Gasoline Lollipops stitch scraps of American roots music to patches of their own tattered hearts to form an all-new tapestry of bleeding rock n’ roll.
Formed in Colorado, Gasoline Lollipops’ members hail from different states, musical backgrounds, influences, and generations. When mixed, their sound is both sweet and explosive, like a Gasoline Lollipop.
Denver Westword awarded Gasoline Lollipops “Best Country Artist” in 2016 and 2018, and the group – which released the debut album Resurrection in February 2017 and followed it with Soul Mine just 11 months later – won the 2014, 2015 and 2017 Colorado Daily reader’s polls for “Best Boulder Band.”
The GasPops have shared stages with such respected artists as Florence + the Machine, Brandi Carlile, Todd Snider, and others. They’ve also played numerous acclaimed music festivals, including Grandoozy, Rocky Mountain Folks Fest, Salmonfest Alaska, NedFest, Bohemian Nights @ New West Fest, and Camp Out for the Cause.
