Nue Moon Revue

9:00 PM - 9:00 PM Saturday May 24, 2014

LAFAYETTE, LA – Lafayette’s own songwriter showcase the Nue Moon Revue returns to the Blue Moon for it’s tenth installment on May 24, at 9 p.m. with performances by local talents Erica Fox, Johanna Divine, James Hebert, Kristi Guillory, Glenn Fields, Eric Schexnider and Allison Bohl.

Part cabaret, part vaudeville, part showcase the Nue Moon Revue presents original music from around the region. Created and hosted by Caroline Helm, the Nue Moon Revue features six songwriters performing their original tunes backed by a house band featuring Joel Savoy (Savoy Family Band), Daniel Coolick (The Revlers), Cal Stevenson (Root Five Productions and Danny Devillier (FIGHTs & Bonsoir, Catin).

“The Nue Moon Reprise is going to highlight some of the folks that really embodied the Nue Moon Revue concept and pushed themselves beyond. Majority of the artists performing went on to form new bands and put out their own albums. I am beyond thrilled to what these artists will bring this time around!” says Caroline Helm, Nue Moon Revue founder.

The Nue Moon Revue would not be possible without the support of their sponsors who bring the show to life by supporting local songwriters with an all-star band and a top-notch venue to showcase their work. Sponsors are treated to original promotional jingles performed by the Jingleberries and friends. Sponsors include Artisan Jewelers, Cafe Vermillionville, Pack and Paddle, Genterie Supply Company and Anya Violins.

The show begins 9 p.m. at the Blue Moon Saloon in Downtown Lafayette. The cover is $10 for an eclectic mix of blues, honkytonk, folk, and indie rock you won’t hear anywhere else.

See below for more information about the performers.

Mackenzie Bourg

Allison Bohl

Graphic designer, photographer, cinematographer and singer songwriter, Allison Bohl can and does anything. Bohl’s work is usually behind the camera working on documentaries, features and experimental films, but as a performer her songs are as unique as her voice. A whole lot of talent wrapped up in one girl!

Johanna Divine

Johanna Divine is a Knoxville-born songwriter, singer, and filmmaker whose Southern roots – from Tennessee to Texas, Florida to Louisiana – have inspired a soulful and wide-ranging body of work. Signed to Universal in 2012, with a forthcoming EP produced by eight-time Grammy winner Jay Newland (Norah Jones, Esperanza Spaulding), Divine is considered one of the most promising songwriters to come along in years’ by No Depression and absolutely superb’ by the BBC’s own ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris.

James Hebert

James Hebert grew up in Larose, Louisiana located in Lafourche Parish. Outside of singing and performing some solos in his church choir, James has never taken time to work on playing music outside of church, until now. The only performing experience he draws from was his role as Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman as a sophomore in high school, where he claims he made it through okay. James’s musical influences include Louisiana and World music and he draws inspiration from people signing about traditions and the life they live. Many people know James, or rather his voice, through his job at local public radio station KRVS. When not working James can be found teaching yoga, fishing, hunting, doing carpentry, creating Louisiana-themed artwork and hanging out with family and friends.

Kristi Guillory

Kristi Guillory became a child prodigy of accordion in the early 1990s and has since earned her place among the modern masters. Kristi is obsessed with sad, pitiful Cajun songs, raunchy drinking ones and the fantastical lyrics of old Cajun accapella ballads. She is a poet, a scholar, an emotional and passionate vocalist and a fearless songsmith. Kristi penned 9 songs for Light the Stars and her vision for creating new Cajun music is uncompromising.

Glenn Fields

Drummer extraordinaire, the heartbeat of The Revelers and The Red Stick Ramblers, Glenn Fields is taking center stage to share with you his soul beyond the beat. From Baton Rouge, Glenn started on sax in the 6th grade, and in high school, took to the drums. Besides playing music and being one of the most knowledgeable people on the subject of music, Glenn enjoys working on cars and has recently taken up wood working.

Erica Fox

Erica Fox’s love of music comes from her father who would take her to the music store every Tuesday on his day off. Listening to those records, Erica learned the artistry of songwriting and has been writing her own music since she was a child. Recently she has taken up guitar and is working on an upcoming album with her new band. When Erica is not playing music she focuses on her other passions, family and acting.

Eric Schexnider

Eric Schexnayder aka NORTHSIDE ERIC often daydreams of melodies and musical arrangements while eating fried chicken in his work truck for lunch. With a few lucky breaks and simply asking for the business, his daydreams are coming true! Eric started playing the guitar in college and immediately starting writing songs. Through a chance encounter with Caroline Helm on a back porch late in the evening, she realized this 270 pound troubadour should get his chance for the big stage.

Nue Moon Revue

Nue Moon Revue began in September 2008 as a project of Caroline Helm to showcase local singer/songwriters. Helm’s concept took shape because of a lack of venues for songwriters to present their original works. Partnering with the Blue Moon Saloon, the Nue Moon Revue gives six songwriters the opportunity to have three of their songs performed in front of a live local audience backed by a house band.
