Sailor Mouth at the Blue Moon

9:00 PM - 1:00 AM Thursday July 25, 2019

Fusing R&B with elements of Soul, the musical force known as Sailor Mouth has emerged. Gino Vallecillo on vocals and drums, Ryan Domingue on bass, and Josh Menard on guitar. Sailor Mouth was formed in early 2017 based in Lafayette, Louisiana. The power trio was born to evoke the warm timeless feeling of their classic influences like Sam Cooke, Bill Withers, and Donny Hathaway blended with elements of neo-soul influences such as Gary Clark Jr., Anderson. Paak, and D’Angelo.
Sailor Mouth spent countless hours, days, and months of writing and rehearsals before their long-awaited live debut in September 2017. Since their manifestation onto the stage, Sailor Mouth has been on a non-stop course of performances, rehearsals, and recording sessions at Moorehouse Studios leading up to the release of the debut EP, “Love Lost”.
The trio’s debut release is a concept EP that is a sonic journey through the ins, outs, ups, and downs of a relationship. Sailor Mouth shows an unfolding of emotions through the six-track EP.
The opening track “Doin 2 Me” tells of the spark of the relationship with raw and soulful guitar riffs, playful drumming, and flirtatious vocals. The mood cools down in the second track, “Selfish”, speaking about the peak of the relationship, both sexually and emotionally, thanks to layers of keyboard accompanied by tender and passionate vocals. The EP takes a turn on the middle track “Take My Love”. The third track has some anger to it with its staccato and dynamic guitar riffs and begins the telling of the bumpy roads the relationship has entered.
The second half of the EP takes a turn sonically and emotionally. The last three tracks deal with the decline of the relationship, dealing with that decline and the eventual break-up. “Up and Leave” musically illustrates trying to mend a relationship while playing the blame game. The fifth, and probably the most personal track on the EP, “Long Gone” deals with the aftermath of the break-up and coming to terms with the inevitable and abrupt changes. A change that is beyond fixing no matter how much one could want these circumstances to be different. The finale “All Figured Out” is the resolve of it all. An energetic track on all levels that explains becoming comfortable with the fact that you’re finally over someone and gets straight-up petty. Sailor Mouth’s debut EP tells a story that is relatable to many and a story best told on stage.
Sailor Mouth tells the story of “Love Lost” with a one of a kind live show. The trio’s live show is an aggressive, emotional, and in-your-face ride that also showcases each of the individual players with music breaks, hits, stops, and solo sections. In 2018, The r&b/soul trio will be touring throughout the south and taking on the rest of the U.S. in the near future hoping to connect with anyone and everyone who listens to their EP and catches their live show.
