Wild Fitz with Durwood
Wild Fitz is the stage moniker of Texas songwriter Kevin O’neal Fitzsimmons. After spending years touring the United States, playing bass for Artists such as Dax Riggs (Fat Possum Records) and Slow Motion Rider (Committee to Keep Music Evil), Fitz hunkered down in Austin and began performing his own material alongside bassist and fellow songwriter Evan Joyce. In 2016 they recorded “Oh Death”, an EP of stripped down folk and country tunes. Since then, Fitz and Joyce have put together a backing band of some of Austin’s finest talent, including members of Blue Heeler, Western Youth, The Railhouse band, The Reputations, and El Campo. They are knee deep in recording a full length album, while regularly gigging in Austin TX and the surrounding areas.
Wild Fitz has shared the bill with artists such as:
Gary P. Nunn
Billy Joe Shaver
Dax Riggs
Mayeux & Broussard
Ryan Sambol (The Strange Boys)
Stoney LaRue
Joe Fletcher
The Bad Lovers
The Reputations
Harvest Thieves
The nostalgic songwriting, subtle bass grooves and driving rhythms of Durwood will conjure up emotions that are uniquely reminiscent of one’s own life. Durwood leads listeners through personal tales of anti-conformity, addiction and love using rock and roll as a vessel while still deeply rooted in country music.
Durwood’s immense talent for creating infectious hooks and soul-stirring melodies establishes the trio across multiple genres without diminishing the integrity of what matters most to the band; the music. It’s the quality of Durwood’s music that has led to the band’s following.
